Fumble mumble

mythtellerDuring one of the commercial breaks watching Battlescar Galactica, sarahcarotte turned to me and said "I think I must be in love with you."
"Oh?" I replied, surprised. A nice complement, to be sure, but it seemed a bit out of place. "What prompted you to say that?"
"Slopping shoulders," she replied. "You have slopping shoulders rather than shoulders that stick straight out. I usually don't like that, but for some reason, I'm madly in love with you."
Now I realize when people get into a relationship, we sometimes get lazy. We might not be as attentive as we would be when we were courting and maybe some of our other courting skills suffer from months/years of non-use. But even with that in mind, I'm amazed at what I'm hearing. "Honey, if there's a compliment in what you're saying to me, I think you should give it to me quick."
"You've got the sexy eyes... and um... Your hair!" she was sputtering now. "I like bald or full-bodied, and you've got the full-bodied hair going on! You're damned sexy!"
I'm the last one to criticize anyone about saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, so I feel her pain. Sometimes the best of intentions come out completely bass-ackwards. It's still funny either way.
