Sweaty

Blargh... Too humid last night... Sleep near impossible... We both woke up bleary-eyed and cranky.

Maybe I'll break down and get an AC, but the AC make the air taste metallic. And I've already had two AC burst into flames in my presence. This does not bode well.

I swear by air conditioners.

Mostly "Goddamn that's good!"

I have had mine for a few years now and it has helped me stay rested and sane and that has kept many people alive.

Mine is a bit awkward since my windows are not standard and can't hold a regular window air conditioner, so I got the stand up one that has a hose out the window. It is noisier than a regular window one but I have it in another room and blowing the air into my room.

I think you will be much happier with a conditioner, it will help with the heat we are getting now. I am turning mine on for the first time tonight.

Ta Ta for now.

Well, I have an air conditioner but the racket it makes drives me crazy. I want central air baby!
If you want to put it off a liiiiiiittle bit longer try a cool/cold bath before bed (soak in it as long as you can until you are just about hypothermic)or a fan placed to blow across a chunk/bowl of ice.

Yikes.......I didn't realize some people didn't use A/C. It's simply NOT optional here......but then again, it was 80F or so when I let the dog out this morning. 90+ with 90% Humidity during the day.....

One thing you might remember.......A/c dehumidifies the air some, so you may keep that in mind. Also, if you buy one, I highly recommend the type with a removable filter, as opposed to a grate on the front. Much easier to clean.

The problem with our windows is that they are not designed for ACs. They are the tall ones that slide from left to right.

Ok....not completely out of the question....

They make AC units for casemate windows (the kind that swing out on a vertical axis. Also, they make "portable AC" units that use a duct to go out a window. They're quite popular with IT types for server rooms.
Good luck.

Oooh Oooh! over here! My bedroom window is a vertical slider...they make ACs for them but they are a tad harder to find.
The AC does make things less sticky thats for sure and that alone can be of worth the cost. I say bite the bullet and give it a try. If its not your thing you can always sell it to somebody.

It gets so hot down here in the Deep South that if you don't have two heat pumps in a two story house, you'll likely have to buy room a/c units for the upstairs.......
