Hacked!

My PC's been infected with the #@$#@$@ Ultimate Cleaner virus thing. Every 5 minutes or so, warning pop-ups say my computer's been infected and I MUST install this Cleaner app. Even if I shut all that down, it pops-up again later.

The thing has disabled Norton (can't run a scan). Adaware finds the spyware, says it's been removed, but the pop-ups keep coming.

I could probably hack my way through the registry, but it'll take hours. I hate this stuff! I'm usually pretty careful about it, but this @#$% somehow sneaked it's way in.

So the PC is closed until I can dedicate some time to fix it and I'm logging in via the laptop.

Leave Osama alone... crack down on these computer terrorists with their spyware and viruses. I swear, if I ever find one of them, I'm buying one of those electro-magnets you put on a flatbed and pinning every one of their hardrives to the wall for a few minutes.

If you are going after people...start with Bill Gates, and the people who let Windows become such a mess of kludges that it is ridiculously easy to infect...especially if you are using IE, or Outlook/express!

Odd, my Norton flagged and diabled that one the moment it saw it a few weeks ago.

Maybe there is a fix/remove thingie for it (I'm so technical!) that you can download to get rid of it?

Good luck

The "security warning" pop ups are annoying but so long as you haven't downloaded the Ultimate Cleaner you aren't in tooo tooo much trouble.

From a respected website ....http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic98916.html

I have a Mac at home now. This is why.
