When I'm working a contract like this, especially at the end of it, it usually gets a bit hairy (especially this particular client). This is the fourth time I've been back and the last three times, I swore up and down that I would not take another contract with them again. It's amazing (and depressing) the things I do for money.
So as this contract comes to an end, I'm trying to keep my eyes on the goal and not run screaming through the hallways. The goal is to complete this project as best as I can, take a bit of a break, finish off the Second Draft of the biography, and start networking/promoting like crazy.
Alot can happen in 6 months and I feel like I'm on the brink of something big. So here's a post I'd like to be writing six months from now. In six months, I'll report back and see how it's all going.

St. Patrick's Day was only a week ago, but I'm still glowing from it. I almost missed the parade this year, but it's been a record year for Irish storytelling gigs. I've had a gig almost every day for the past week in various schools, halls, and miscellaneous events. I even met a local publisher who showed interest in publishing my new book (a collection of Quebecois and Irish stories).
We've reached the Second Draft on two of the biographies and the clients have been really helpful and interesting. It's nice not to have to juggle the technical writing and the biography writing; being able to focus on the one thing has really produced results.
We've also got four other folks ready to sign-on for biographies of their own. Moving the business out of my apartment and into its own office space has been a huge plus. Not only is it psychologically better for me to have a space dedicated to work (I'm used to relaxing in my home), but being able to receive clients in a real office drastically improves my street cred.
At this point, I think I'll be able to take on another writer and maybe start looking at getting a more permanent location for the business. It's nice being in this warehouse by the waterfront, but I've always had my eye on a more homey looking office space. Patience, patience, patience.
Who knew that six months would bring about so much change?
