I'm reading Dan Yashinsky's book Suddenly The Heard Footsteps and enjoying it very much. Dan is a storyteller based in Toronto and enjoys more fame than fortune from being a professional teller. I've met him several times, own many of his books, and respect him as a fine teller.

Ashamedly, I've been a bit lazy in my storytelling duties in the past couple of years. I haven't learned many new stories, I haven't retold some of the older, unfamiliar stories I know (I keep telling the ones I know really well), and I haven't practiced telling the stories in French. I also haven't been very proactive in finding new gigs.

But reading Yashinsky's book reawakens that fire in my belly. Every time I put the book down, I envision new opportunities to tell and get excited at the prospects. The problem is that, with the new job, I can't just pick up and leave to tell for a couple of days at a summer camp, school outing, or corporate event. Argh.

I need to reshuffle a few things to make storytelling a higher priority again. Come September (because storytelling always goes to sleep in the summer), I need to be back on the ball with new stories and new related projects and opps.
