Describing the Decades
Nov. 8th, 2007 03:22 pmAlthough this decade isn't really over, I started thinking about how I would describe this decade, and then how to describe past decades.
I have to say that the first decade of the 2000s would have to be the Decade of Terror. We've spent most of this decade being afraid. It started with Y2K, then Anthrax, then 9/11, then massive layoffs everywhere, then the holy war on Terror (which is still going on six years later, BTW).
As for the other decades, off the top of my head:
1950s: Birth of Rock'n Roll
1960s: Decade of Revolution
1970s: Revolution (De)Evolution
1980s: First Awakenings
1990s: the hidden influence of the Corporation revealed
Thoughts?
