Flooding the airwaves
Nov. 21st, 2008 06:12 pmSo I bit the bullet. After a bit of research and consulting with friends and the folks at Steve's Music, I bought a Samson COU1 microphone and a boom mic stand (total $140). The microphone has a USB connection and plugs directly into the laptop; it has the amp contained within in.
So the types of shows that I do, this condensor microphone should be ideal: the rooms are usually quiet and focussed on the storytelling, as opposed to a noisy bar or pub. And being able to record directly to my laptop is fantastic. I did some initial tests with the desktop computer and it sounded great, so I'm very hopeful.
My first test will be the shows I've got at Chateau Ramezay in Old Montreal on December 13th and 27th. There's nothing like a live audience to bring out one's best performance.
