May. 24th, 2009 09:13 pmThere's a new DC animated series called Batman: The Brave and The Bold which has blended a new animation style with a classic comic book genre. They have a new voice for Batman (Diedrich Bader, aka Oswald from the Drew Carey show) and the show has a 60s feel to it, while still being modern and fresh. They also opened up the DC archive and brought out some of the classic heroes and villains to share the stage with Bats.
It took me a while to get used to it, but now I'm loving it.
In Game Over for Owlman, the animators put in a plethora of tributes to the original Batman classics, including the car and the original Joker. You can watch the episode on YouTube.
In the latest episode, The Color of Revenge, the opening sequence is also a tribute to the campy Adam West/Burt Ward style of Batman from the TV show. It's a pleasure to watch.
