I just can't let this go. Gods save us from the people who write the way they speak.

While editing a technical manual, I found the word "Ditto".

Ditto.

It's like finding the word "Dude" in a legal contract. Oy.

I used to occasionally put a graphic in the corner of a page that said "lick this spot, you may be one of the lucky 25!"

Sometimes it got through editing, sometimes it didnt.

Or perhaps they licked the spot.

Back when I used to build menus in DOS for people I sold computers to, or fixed, I would always a menu item "5", which would say "Please do no use". Of course, most people would try it first of all...and be greeted to 240+ Control-Gs!
