Playing the Zealot
Jul. 16th, 2007 05:33 pmThis past weekend was the second month of our LARPing season. The weather was pretty good, despite the rain we had Saturday night. It never got too hot and the nights were chilly but manageable, which is always an issue when you're wearing medieval costumes.
I doubt my mother's advice about dressing in layers was meant for LARPing, but who knows when parental advice can come in handy.
This morning, I realized I lost my voice. Not surprising considering the amount of yelling I did, what with the arguments, the preaching, and the night-time torture session I went through when I was attacked in my tent. Good times. Good times.
What always amazes me is how people need to pull me aside and ask "Are you really mad?" I'm only role-playing my zealot character, but I must look like a raving lunatic. I only unleash like this on people I know well and I know can handle it, but the animators always seem caught off-guard when it happens.
