Olympic Hockey Fever

As of 4pm today, Canada and Russia are tied 0 to 0 in the second period. I've been able to avoid Olympic fever so far because I'm at work, but some yahoo put a TV in the lunch room tuned to the CBC's coverage of the Olympic games. Argh.

I don't normally go ga-ga for sports, but there's something about the Olympics that gets my blood boiling. My favourite events are Curling, Hockey, Freestyle skiing, Bobsleighing, and Figure Skating.

When the Winter Olympics make their return to Canada in BC, I plan on finding a way to attend. Heaven, pure heaven.

How bizzare it is to have no North American teams to be in the finals. What's up with that?
I mean the US team..no practice will kill you, along with a, questionable #1 goalie (this coming from a goalie).

Unfortunately, Canada doesn't usually fair well against Mother Russia...the last time we beat them in the Olympics was 1960.

And it is hard to get in right head space when your coach is plagued with a gambling scandal and one of your players is hit with a $19 million lawsuit during the first game.

My dad's comspiracy theory is that the US press waited until the olympics to break the gambling scandal so the US team would have a better chance at gold.
