There's been an accident today involvingsarahcarotte. She's still alive and kicking (the kicking is important), but she's been injured. I wasn't present for this since I was return from visiting my Mum in Quebec city, but apparently Ms. Carotte was out with friends in Old Montreal seeing the sights. Getting the wheelchair over the cobblestones was tricky, but they were managing until The Incident.
The wheels on the chair locked andsarahcarotte was projected out of the chair unto the sidewalk. To make matters worse, the Admiral (who was pushing the chair at the time) was carried forward by the momentum and land atop Ms. Carotte's back.
And this is the breaking point, quite literally. The impact of the Admiral falling onsarahcarotte's back has broken one or two vertebrae (according to the initial X-Rays). We'll be getting confirmation tomorrow when she sees the specialist. So as of this moment (Sunday night), she's resting uncomfortably in the Emergency of l'Hotel Dieu de Montreal.
The good news is that there's no apparent spinal or neurological damage beyond the bones being broken and her leg is still okay. Mentally and emotionally, this comes at the worst possible time.sarahcarotte was supposed to get her cast removed on Wednesday. We were looking forward to full recovery from her surgery and now this.
I will keep you all posted on what will happen and what action we will be taking. Right now, I'm just too numb.
