The Biggers Blooper
Aug. 20th, 2008 01:27 pmI've been re-listening to the lectures that were recorded during the Toronto Pagan Conference 2007 (thanks be to deo for the recordings!). I'm so grateful to have the mp3s of those lectures; they are fascinating to listen to over and over.
I'm working on getting permission, but the MPRC might start carrying the TPC 2007 CDs so that everyone can have access to these lectures. They should cost about $10-$15 each or so, which is a steal considering you'll be getting over 10 hours of fantastic lectures from speakers like Brendan Myers (
northwestpass), Andy Biggers, Gud DiZerega, Judy Harrow, Brian Walsh, and more. They're great to listen to on long car drives.
I was just listening to the Andy Biggers lecture called "Alternative Approaches to Rituals" and I heard one of the greatest almost-bloopers of all time. If you have the CD, cue the lecture up to 40:34. This is just to provide some context on the point he's talking about, but the blooper happens at 46:32 (the point ends at 47:14).
Once I get Andy's permission to repost that section here, I will put it up. The specific topic he was addressing was the benefits of exposing yourself (or someone just interested in Paganism) to the greater community through festivals as opposed to staying insular with yourself or your coven/group.
Stay tuned.
