Oscar ho-hum

We watched the Oscars last night and it was largely ho-hum, although I was pleased to see Nick Park win for best animation (Wallace and Gromit) and Philip Seymour Hoffman win for Capote.

But the Oscars seemed to be so conservative this year. There were no really intense moments, so bizarre screw-ups (except for the guy operating the microphones that would either switch on or off at the weirdest moments).

If I ever win an Oscar, I think the first words out of my mouth will be "Tabarnak! Peut-tu croire qu'un gars de Quebec se trouverait icitte avec cette gang de blokes? Esti!"

I don't know if the censor guy will have enough presence of mind (or knowledge of French) to bleep anything out.
